León Fernández studied fine arts at the Academy of Arts in Florence, and animation at the Audiovisual Arts Center in Guadalajara. He has participated as art director, animator, sculptor and producer in several animation short films in Mexico. In 2011, he made his first stop-motion shortfilm (Mutatio), which obtained several awards in festivals both inside and outside the country.
With his short films "The hearts workshop" (2016) and "The aeronauts" (2016) he received a double nomination for the Ariel of the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, being “The aeronauts” the short film that finally won the award. He is co-founder of HUMANIMALIA STUDIO, a company that offers animation services and stop-motion puppet making.
